BSA Releases New Bearing Brief on Proper Handling

Glen Ellyn, IL - The Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) has released its newest Bearing Brief, Proper Handling, to add to its online library of essential installation and maintenance information for the distributor, manufacturer and the end-user in an easily-downloadable PDF format from the BSA website, www.bsahome.org.

Proper Handling points out the role of best shop practices in handling all bearings. Because rolling-element bearings are high-precision components, they need to be stored and handled carefully to perform as designed. Once debris enters a bearing, it reduces the life of that bearing. Proper Handling details the proper storage and handling of a bearing before, during and after installation. The Bearing Brief also details lubrication basics which are essential to bearing use. In today's busy workplace, essential cautions are often forgotten, yet damaged bearings present a challenge to both cost and efficiency in every use.

BSA uses its homepage to highlight the single-topic publications of technical information designed by BSA distributor members and participating manufacturers to deliver expertise designed to meet the needs of the end user as well as bearing industry professionals. Proper Handing is readily accessible from the website, www.bsahome.org. Over the last several years, the association's Educational Services Committee has published twenty-five Bearing Briefs, all of them available as free, downloadable PDFs from the BSA website.

Bearing Briefs are just one of a variety of education and training programs and publications provided by the Association. BSA is the "must belong to organization for authorized bearing distributors." An international service and educational organization of distributors representing a total of almost 100 companies distributing factory-warranted ball-, roller-, and anti-friction bearings and invited manufacturers of bearings and related products, the association's mission says, "BSA is the forum to enhance networking and knowledge sharing and promote the sale of bearings through authorized distributors."
