SYDNEY, Australia, March 7 - OPEX Corporation recently announced that it has developed the ability to read the Australian 4-State Barcode while scanning documents and envelopes with the OPEX AS3690i. In addition to providing an image of the document, the digital readout of the 4-State Barcode is provided as part of the data file associated with the scanned image.
This capability allows the customer to capture not only mailing information but also customer information contained in the customer-defined portion of the 4-State Barcode. Until now, this function could usually be accomplished only through the use of a hand-held barcode wand. This new application developed by OPEX, however, allows the 4-State Barcode information to be automatically captured as the document is scanned through the AS3690i Scanner.
This is the latest capability to be added to the OPEX AS3690i Scanner, making it a unique and unparalleled tool for implementing the digital mailroom solution. The OPEX AS3690i allows envelope contents to be extracted and scanned in virtually one step. It eliminates the need for transaction separators, staple removal, and almost all of the labor-intensive, pre- scanning document preparation required of traditional scanning processes.
