The winner will be announced on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Gartner Portals, Content & Collaboration Summit in Orlando, Florida.

Applebee's International and BEA AquaLogic User Interaction
Adding over 100 new restaurants worldwide in each of the past 14 years, Applebee's sought a way to improve store execution management across its restaurant network that helped ensure a consistent, positive customer experience and an increase in productivity. Through its deployment of its interactive Applebee's portal, based on BEA's AquaLogic User Interaction product suite, Applebee's has been able to project a savings to restaurant managers of approximately 20 hours per month by automating corporate reporting while eliminating costs and improving productivity.

In addition to streamlining regular financial reports and improving management's visibility into regional and companywide performance, Applebee's has saved hundreds of thousands of dollars annually by posting corporate documents online instead of printing and shipping the more than 460 reports per year it used to produce for each of its 1,930 restaurants. Improved collaboration between corporate headquarters and individual franchises, a reduction in corporate mass emails and workflow automation have all been significant ancillary benefits of Applebee's AquaLogic portal adoption.
