Company offers all-expense paid trip to U.S. national park

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – In the second poorest state in the nation, American rubber band manufacturer Alliance Rubber Company is doing its part to create jobs by manufacturing goods at its Arkansas plant and exporting them around the world.

In fact, Alliance is the world's largest manufacturer of rubber bands, with more than 2,100 skus of mailing, shipping, office and packaging products sold through dealers in 28 countries. Although American manufacturing has lost almost six million jobs over the past 10 years, Alliance has continued to succeed with homegrown talent from the small town of Hot Springs, known for the pure water flowing from its natural hot springs and as the boyhood home of President Bill Clinton.

That is why the company is dedicated to encouraging Americans to buy Made in the USA products. From now through May 31, the "Band Together. Buy American." contest will encourage Americans to pledge to spend $1 a day on American-made goods to help create one million additional U.S. jobs. Those who take the pledge are entered in a contest to win an all-expense paid trip to a U.S. National Park.

Beginning May 1, participants may also submit a photograph of an American-made purchase for a chance to win.

"We need manufacturing for generations to come," said Alliance Rubber Company President Bonnie Swayze. "The entire economy, national security, and well-being for all Americans are dependent upon manufacturing. It accounts for 12 percent of the U.S. economy and 11 percent of the private sector work force. It offers good middle-class jobs for millions of people."

In 2013 Alliance was one of two recipients of Top American Manufacturer honors in the Office Supplies category by Made in the USA Foundation and Made Movement. The same year, the company received the Made in USA Certified Product Innovation of the Year Award for exhibiting excellence in United States manufacturing best practices and standards and contributing to job creation in the United States and accurate labeling.
