Fifth time Kawneer has been recognized by Glass Magazine for innovative product

NEW YORK - Alcoa (NYSE: AA) announced that its Kawneer architectural aluminum products and systems business has been named the winner of Glass Magazine's 2011 "Most Innovative Curtain Wall Product" Crystal Achievement Award for its Clearwall(TM) Curtain Wall. This is the fifth time Kawneer has been recognized with a Crystal Achievement Award.

Designed to honor innovation in the commercial, retail and fabrication markets, the Crystal Achievement Award recognize significant accomplishments in architectural glass technology, manufacturing and marketing. Kawneer's previous awards were received for "Most Innovative Print Media," "Most Innovative Comprehensive Marketing Program," and "Most Innovative Web Site, Large Company."

"We are honored to once again be recognized by Glass Magazine," said Kimberly Ferro, Vice President, Marketing and Product Development for Kawneer North America. "Kawneer's Clearwall(TM) Curtain Wall is a unique and versatile solution that meets the needs of both glaziers and architects, and we are pleased that this key industry publication has chosen to acknowledge it with a Crystal Achievement Award."

To meet a growing demand for an admired monolithic look for low-rise applications, Kawneer introduced its Clearwall(TM) Curtain Wall, an innovative 4-sided toggle glazed system with a breakthrough glass retaining mechanism. As a cost-effective alternative to four-sided structural silicone glazed systems, Clearwall(TM) Curtain Wall's unique toggle mechanism reduces installation labor, simplifies on-site logistics and enhances safety while providing superior aesthetics. Since its introduction, Kawneer's Clearwall(TM) Curtain Wall has received tremendous response from both the glazing and architecture communities.

This year's Crystal Achievement Award winners were featured in the September issue of Glass Magazine and recognized at GlassBuild America: The Glass, Window & Door Expo in Atlanta.
