CLEVELAND-- Abanaki Corporation oil skimmers offer cost-effective ways to solve a variety of issues related to the automotive industry. A large automaker required assistance retrieving over sprayed automotive wax from their wash water system. The automaker was sacrificing time and money at the hands of aging, labor-intensive equipment that offered poor removal rates.
The specially designed pick-up unit for this application uses infrared heaters in the rear of the skimmer, overhead convex heaters, and heated chutes to soften the wax.
According to the automaker, the custom-designed solution solved a problem that units costing 10 times as much failed to solve.
Abanaki was also approached by a national recycler of used oil filters that recovers up to 800,000 gallons of waste oil annually that had an issue of effectively skimming oil. A sucker vacuum truck was first used to skim oil but proved to be too time consuming, messy and inefficient. To solve the problem, the Abanaki Oil Grabber Model MB was installed. It uses two 8" wide belts and stationary wiper blades to skim the water surface to remove up to 200 gallons of oil per hour. The unit is critical to the recycling process, is virtually maintenance-free, and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
