Co-sponsored by ASMAC, Fundamentals of Adhesion Short Course will be held from June 7-8 and will provide introduction to principles of adhesion science. Led by professors from Virginia Tech, course will address basic stress distributions in important bonded joint families, advantages and disadvantages of test geometries, and prediction of long-term performance through short-term tests. It will also focus on surface analysis techniques and principles of surface chemistry.

BETHESDA, MD (January 29, 2007) - The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) is pleased to announce its Fundamentals of Adhesion Short Course to be held in Toronto, ON from June 7-8, 2007 at the Renaissance Toronto Airport Hotel. The Adhesives and Sealants Manufacturers Association of Canada (ASMAC) is proudly co-sponsoring this educational event.
This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the principles of adhesion science. Led by professors from Virginia Tech, this two-day short course will address various topics, including: o Basic stress distributions in important bonded joint families; o Advantages and disadvantages of different test geometries; o Prediction of long-term performance through short-term tests; o Environmental factors and their effect on adhesive durability; o Principles of surface chemistry and how they apply to adhesive bonding; o Surface analysis techniques.
This course is designed for entry-level chemists, application engineers, sales and marketing professionals, and other technical personnel employed by adhesive companies, raw material and equipment suppliers, and end-users.
