ANSI and ISA to Release Action Guide on the Financial Impact of Cyber Risk

October marks the fifth annual Cyber Security Awareness Month. Each year, the National Cyber Security Division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) provides tools, tips, and information on cyber security to homes and businesses to promote safe online activities.

DHS is sponsoring a series of events and activities to mark National Cyber Security Awareness Month. These include:

An opening event at the National Press Club

A media tour with the National Cyber Security Alliance that will inform Americans of the steps they can take to stay safe online

A webcast with the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center on strategies for computer users to protect themselves from phishing scams

A series of regional cyber security roundtables around the country in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

In conjunction with Cyber Security Awareness Month, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Internet Security Alliance (ISA) have announced the upcoming release of an action guide for C-suite executives. The Financial Impact of Cyber Risk will guide CFOs and their colleagues responsible for legal issues, business operations and technology, privacy and compliance, risk assessment and insurance, and corporate communications in asking the right questions to determine the best possible solutions to mitigate cyber security challenges.

The document will be freely available for download on October 20, 2008, at webstore.ansi.org/cybersecurity. All interested stakeholders are invited to pre-register and be among the first to receive this blueprint that will help to protect businesses against cyber risk.
