Direct and Software-as-a-Service Offerings Reach More Than Eight Million Paid Mailboxes in 45 Countries

SAN MATEO, Calif., May 21 / -- Zimbra, the leader in open source, next-generation collaboration and messaging software, today announced that its remarkable momentum continued through the first quarter of 2007. With more than two million mailboxes added in the first quarter, Zimbra now serves more than eight million paid mailboxes worldwide. In addition to growing its direct, on-premise customer base by nearly 70 percent in the first quarter, Zimbra has added more than 80 new partners including VARs, distributors, system integrators, and hosted service providers. Together, Zimbra and its partners serve customers in more than a dozen vertical markets.

"Users and enterprises demanding flexible, innovative collaboration alternatives are driving our tremendous worldwide growth across industries ranging from healthcare to government to consumer ISPs," said Satish Dharmaraj, Zimbra co-founder and CEO. "With the support and feedback of the Zimbra community, we've achieved several huge milestones already in the first quarter of 2007, including the launch of Zimbra Desktop, allowing universal access to Zimbra's rich Web 2.0 collaboration experience."

Worldwide Momentum

Zimbra's global growth includes momentum in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, which represent more than 30 percent of new customers this year. Zimbra's customers span 45 countries and six continents, and the Zimbra solution has been translated into 18 languages.

"Our millions of broadband customers demand a world-class Internet experience, and our partnership with Zimbra delivers an innovative Web 2.0 collaboration service with advanced search capabilities, support for large mailboxes, integrated virus/spam protection, and differentiated tiers for premium users," said Mukul Sood, VP, Content and Applications for VSNL (a Tata company).
