ETC Receives Contract From FAA
Environmental Tectonics Corporation (Amex: ETC) ("ETC" or the "Company") today announced the award of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) research contract to develop ground-based simulation systems to teach pilots in-flight upset-recovery procedures. The contract, issued by the Civil Aeromedical Institute (CAMI) advances ETC's existing research program for an effective ground-based upset-recovery training system.
The sole source FAA contract, valued at over $300,000, will fund a 15 month program for continued development and training effectiveness testing of realistic upset-recovery training procedures and systems that use centrifuge based flight simulator technology.

ETC will perform the research at their full service National Aerospace Training and Research Center (NASTAR CenterSM ) located in Southampton, Pennsylvania.
The ETC GYROLAB GL-2000 will be used to develop and run the centrifuge-based simulator training program. A fully controlled comparative trial will be conducted to scientifically compare the effectiveness of the new, ETC developed, simulation training system against upset-recovery training for pilots in a non-motion trainer.
Richard A. Leland, Vice President, Training Operations, and Principal Investigator for this contract, stated, "Existing simulators are not able to replicate the motion dynamics of an aircraft-upset situation. Yet these motion stimuli, especially sustained G Forces, are primary drivers in a pilot's response to an aircraft-upset condition. A new approach is needed to provide pilots a safe and economical training system to counter aircraft-upset accidents. Our research focus is to achieve this goal."
