Glen Tellock to Head CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 management committee.

Glen Tellock, Chairman, President and CEO of Manitowoc Company Inc., has been named chair of 2014 CONEXPO-CON/AGG exposition and leads its management committee, which is comprised of business executive volunteers overseeing show planning to ensure event meets industry needs. Event will be held March 4-8, 2014 in Las Vegas, NV and will also serve as international gathering place for construction industries in 2014, with focus on construction, aggregates, and ready mixed concrete. AFS recaps 25th Annual Conference.

On June 4-7, 2012, AFS celebrated its 25th Anniversary at its Technical Conference and Exhibition. During anniversary dinner on June 5, AFS honored 46 current corporate sponsors with plaques and special recognition. Conference included 9 plenary presentations, over 50 technical presentations, and 8 short courses ranging from Fundamentals of Liquid Filtration to advanced topics like Ultrafiltration Membranes. BIO applauds Rep. Kaptur's Energy Investment Act of 2012.

BIO thanked Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) and 16 other original cosponsors for introducing Rural Energy Investment Act of 2012, which would reauthorize Farm Bill Energy Title programs, provide significant mandatory funding, and ensure eligibility for additional biorefineries and products, such as biobased products and renewable chemicals. Report Details Biotech involvement with neglected diseases.

According to "Biotechnology: Bringing Innovation to Neglected Disease Research and Development," small- to medium-sized biotech companies bring innovation to global health. Findings show that 134 biotechnology companies are participating in neglected disease research and development, which represents participation in 39% of 191 new drugs, vaccines, and diagnostics in development. Manufacturers urge Senate to halt costly EPA regulation.

June 21, 2012

NAM Senior VP of Policy and Government Relations, Aric Newhouse, issued statement in support of Sen. Jim Inhofe's (R-OK) joint resolution of disapproval, S.J. Res. 37, to use Congressional Review Act to overturn EPA's Utility MACT rule. According to Newhouse, Utility MACT rule, when combined with other power plant regulations, will result in loss of 1.65 million jobs nationwide by 2020 and will increase electricity bills by more than 10% in some large manufacturing regions.
