Engelberger Robotics Awards to be presented August 30.

Robotics industry's highest honor, the Engelberger Robotics Award, will be presented to Richard Litt and Martin Buehler at special ceremony during 43rd International Symposium on Robotics. Richard Litt, founder and Chairman of Genesis Systems Group LLC, will receive 2012 Engelberger Award for Leadership, while Dr. Martin Buehler will receive award for over 20 years of industrial and academic contributions in developing advanced robotics technology. NEMA, UL Partner on fire prevention technology training course.

NEMA is collaborating with UL to offer free online training course structured to educate electrical professionals on safe and effective ways to install and troubleshoot issues with arc-fault circuit interrupters (AFCIs). Available through Knowledge Services, course will foster complete trouble-free installation of AFCIs and other residential branch circuit components as well as provide expert advice on finding and fixing electrical system problems that may cause AFCIs to trip. AMCA approves revisions to air control device rating manual.

August 10, 2012

AMCA board of directors and membership have approved revisions to AMCA Publication 511-10 (Rev. 8/12) Certified Ratings Program - Product Rating Manual for Air Control Devices. Revisions add testing, calculation, and rating requirements for transverse connectors and dust access doors, and also address the way air leakage for dampers is rated. This manual should be used in conjunction with current edition of AMCA Publication 11-03 (R2008) (Rev. 7/11). Read More

AMCA International Revises fan air performance rating manual.

August 10, 2012

June 2012 revision of AMCA's publication 211-05 adds language to Section 10.1.2.4 for making adjustments to fan performance when determining check test failures. Purpose of AMCA's Certified Ratings Program (CRP) provides buyer, user, and specifier assurance that manufacturer-published performance ratings of air system components are reliable and accurate. Also, CRP provides information on how product was tested, what appurtenances were included, and other pertinent information. Read More

IPC Standard addresses solder paste printing.

Developed by Task Group Nordic, IPC's volunteer standards development group in Scandinavia, IPC-7527, Requirements for Solder Paste Printing, will help companies assess and improve their solder paste printing processes. Standard covers many aspects of solder paste application, from initial placement on board through production and testing. To equipment operators, standard serves as reference guide with more than 50 photos packed into 15 pages. Read More

EPA and USDA Develop microbial risk assessment guidance.

EPA and USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Microbial Risk Assessment (MRA) Guideline, which lays out approach to conducting meaningful assessments of risks to Americans posed by pathogens in food and water. Guideline's goal is to improve quality of data collected by public health scientists regarding such risks. Overarching microbial risk assessment guideline fills gap for comprehensive, specific, and descriptive information for developing assessments. Read More

TRFA to Offer Epoxy Short Course preceding 2012 Annual Meeting.

TRFA will offer Epoxy 101 Short Course as prelude to its Annual Meeting, which will take place October 29-30 in Orlando, FL.
