AUTOMATICA 2014 achieves booking record.

More than 50% of the trade fair area occupied in 2012 is already booked for AUTOMATICA 2014, which will take place on the grounds of the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from May 20-23, 2014. High-growth sector of service robotics will be an additional exhibition focal point with its own hall. AUTOMATICA 2012 solidified its significance as the international meeting place of the automation industry and the world's largest trade fair for robotics with more than 720 exhibitors from 40 countries. NJ Glass Manufacturer agrees to install emissions controls.

October 8, 2012

U.S. EPA and U.S. Department of Justice announced that Durand Glass Manufacturing Company Inc. in Millville, NJ has agreed to install emissions controls on its 3 glass furnaces that will reduce more than 173 tons of nitrogen oxides and 23 tons of particulate matter per year. Durand also installed monitoring systems that will allow it to continuously measure its NOx emissions, and agreed to pay $300,000 civil penalty to resolve violations of the Clean Air Act. Read More

BSA hosts successful 2012 Fall Meeting in Chicago.

On Sept 24-25, BSA welcomed 63 industry professionals to its 2012 Fall Meeting. In addition to pursuing regular work of BSA Board of Directors and Committees, meeting was co-located with ABMA fall event, offering attendees additional networking and educational opportunities. BSA’s Information Technology and Supply Chain Committee also invited all attendees to presentation by Susan Streich, National Sales Manager of IDEA e-solutions, about data synchronization solutions for business. Colorado Workshop to explore plans for NNMI.

Manufacturers recognize 296 members of Congress.

October 5, 2012

NAM announced that 248 members of the House of Representatives and 48 senators received NAM Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence, which is a record year for the number of members who voted in support of pro-manufacturing policies. Awards are based on members of Congress’s votes on key manufacturing legislation identified by NAM in the 112th Congress. These included key votes on issues such as energy policy, taxes, and regulations, among others. Read More

NIST November Symposium focuses on forensics.

During Forensics@NIST 2012 symposium on Nov 28-30, attendees will learn how NIST's laboratories and staff support many branches of forensic science including DNA analysis, arson investigation, trace evidence analysis, fingerprint impression analysis, biometrics, and computer/cell phone forensics. Event will feature 45 lectures and 40 poster presentations by NIST scientists, engineers, and collaborators.
