Tooling U-SME presented its Platinum Education Center (TUPEC) designation to 6 community and technical colleges: Atlantic Technical College (FL); Fayetteville (NC) Technical Community College; Greenfield (MA) Community College; Kellogg Community College (MI); Southern Oklahoma Technology Center (OK); and Arizona Advanced Manufacturing Institute of Mesa Community College (AZ). New Conference will help metalforming companies grow in Mexico.

To help metalforming companies take advantage of Mexico market growth, Mexico Executive Forum and Technical Conference will feature rountable discussions with senior U.S. executives who do business in Mexico, those interested in doing business in Mexico, and supplier executives familiar with moving materials across borders. EPA launches ENERGY STAR Community Service Tour.

EPA is kicking off its first national ENERGY STAR Change the World through Community Service Tour, bringing together public and private organizations in communities across the country to make a positive difference in people's lives through energy efficiency-related community service projects. EPA is leveraging the tour to inspire others to consider what they can do to make a difference through energy efficiency, to share their "stories of positive energy," and to take ENERGY STAR Pledge. AMT donates 3D printer to high school STEM program.

October 9, 2014

To celebrate Manufacturing Day, AMT announced that it has donated a 3D printer to Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School to support interdisciplinary Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math program. To apply for 3D printer, school had to provide statement of need explaining why they were starting a STEM Program or describe program they had in place. They also had to identify specific projects that would keep machine in use and describe specific outcomes for students across departments. Read More

SPE announces winners of annual thermoforming competition.

October 9, 2014

SPE has announced winners of the SPE Thermoforming Division annual parts competition. They were presented in 11 categories as well as in a student parts competition. Jerrold Ancheta won first prize for "Vacuum Form Transradial Prosthesis," and Madeline Freding won second prize for "Re-Form". One of the category winners, Associated Thermoforming, Inc., also received the Peoples' Choice award for the "Bowling Pin Elevator" based on a poll of attendees. Read More
