BIO applauded President Barack Obama's recognition of contributions made by biotechnology to design of new biofuels and to agricultural productivity in the President's Climate Action Plan. Mary Jane Mitchell has joined Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) as assistant vice president of Acquisition Policy. Reporting to Christian Marrone, vice president of National Security and Acquisition Policy, Mitchell will be responsible for managing AIA's work and advocacy on acquisition and procurement policy. Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA) released results of its 2012 Aerosol Pressurized Products Survey, which serves as annual indicator of business strength of aerosol products industry. Setting new record high with 3.8+ billion total units filled, U.S. aerosol product production increased for third consecutive year. EPA and Department of Justice announced that Ash Grove Cement Company has agreed to pay $2.5 million penalty and invest approximately $30 million in pollution control technology at its 9 Portland cement manufacturing plants to resolve alleged violations of the Clean Air Act. Agreement will reduce more than 17,000 tons of harmful NOx and SO2 pollution each year across plants. Energy Department and NREL announced 182,500 ft² Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) in Golden, CO as latest Energy Department user facility, and only one in USA, focused on utility-scale clean energy grid integration. Facility's first industry partner, Colorado-based Advanced Energy Industries, has already signed on to start work at ESIF in developing lower cost, better performing solar power inverters.
