ASABE announces ISO approval of sustainability standard project.

ISO 17989-1, Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry - Sustainability - Principles, will provide guidelines for integrating environmental sustainability principles, practices, and considerations into design of agricultural and forestry machinery. It will also establish basis for development of machine-specific standards related to sustainability. Chrysler to host SAE 2013 World Congress.

SAE International announces that Chrysler will serve as Host Company for SAE 2013 World Congress and ZF will serve as Tier One Strategic Supplier for the event. EPA updates Clean Air Act requirements for gas stations.

May 22, 2012

Beginning later this year, states may begin process of phasing out vapor recovery systems at the pump since approximately 70% of all vehicles are equipped with on-board systems that capture these vapors. This final rule will ensure that air quality and public health are protected while potentially saving the approximately 31,000 affected gas stations located in mostly urban areas more than $3,000 each year when fully implemented. NTSB Makes Several Safety Recommendations to FMCSA.

Safety recommendations H-12-7 through -12, issued by NTSB for Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), include development and enforcement of MCS-150 reporting requirements. Other points deal with information on FMCSA website and SaferBus mobile application, issues concerning National Consumer Complaint Database (NCCDB), as well as development and implementation of NCCDB-based system for information about passenger carriers for prioritizing passenger carrier inspections. SPE Thermoforming Division has announced call for entries for its annual Parts Competition, showcasing latest advances in thermoforming design and application. Parts entered in Competition will be on display during 21st SPE Thermoforming Conference®, which will be held September 23-25. Competition entrants may submit parts from roll-fed systems to Industrial, Medical, or Food categories.
