Butanol Purity Testing Standard approved by ASTM committee.

ASTM D7875, Test Method for Determination of Butanol and Acetone Content of Butanol for Blending with Gasoline by Gas Chromatography, will be used in isobutanol manufacturing to test its purity for use in chemical and fuel markets. Developed by Subcommittee D02.04.0L on Gas Chromatography Methods and based on annex in ASTM D7862, this standard will be primarily used by isobutanol manufacturers and laboratories that work with fuels. Proposed ASTM Standard links textiles, antimicrobial agents.

Proposed standard WK31901, Guide for Standard Test Methods and Practices for Evaluating Antibacterial Activity on Textiles, will aggregate information concerning textiles types treated with antimicrobial agents and ways each can be tested for performance response to antimicrobial activity. According to ASTM's Robert Monticello, guide will offer flexibility to develop specific test standard based on exact antimicrobial agent used and exact performance expectations of treated article. AAMA Opens Registration for annual conference in Florida.

January 14, 2015

American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) opened registration for AAMA 78th Annual Conference, which will take place February 15–18 in Ft Lauderdale, FL. Kenn Kington, professional comedian and motivational speaker, will serve both as keynote speaker and master of ceremonies for annual awards banquet, "Reflections from the Islands," on February 16. BIO Welcomes Oregon's Vote to implement Clean Fuels Program.

Oregon Environmental Quality Commission vote to implement Oregon's Clean Fuels Program was deemed positive step for advanced biofuel producers and technology developers. According to BIO's Brent Erickson, this implementation "will provide a strong signal to the advanced biofuel industry that investments in producing cleaner fuels can pay off." Erickson applauded Oregon's work towards reducing carbon emissions within transportation sector and replacing foreign oil with biofuels. Read More

During annual meeting of Transportation Research Board, National Operations Center of Excellence was unveiled. NOCoE technical services center and website utilizes real-time proactive management techniques to improve safety and system reliability, combat congestion, and better serve traveling public. NOCoE will offer array of peer exchanges, webinars, assessments, on-call assistance, and training on topics such as integrated corridor management, active traffic management, and incident response.
