Brookfield Viscosity Standards Now Come with Expiration Date

Best industry practice recommends that calibration materials be replaced on a scheduled basis. In response to customer input, Brookfield has now added an expiration date to their silicone viscosity standards used to perform calibration checks on viscometers and rheometers. This new information appears on the jar label as well as on the certificate of calibration that comes with the fluid. Lab...

Viscosity Measurement Chip eliminates onset of early turbulence.

Mounted on m-VROC viscometer, E chip attains 2,000,000 1/s measurements of water-like viscosity or 1,000,000 1/s for various injket inks (~4 mPas). Defined, micro-fabricated uniform flow channel maintains laminar flow at elevated shear rates, producing accurate measurements. Viscosity measurement is further facilitated by full scale pressure of chip.

DV-II+Pro Viscometer with Thermosel for Elevated Temperature Testing

Viscosity measurement of hot melts and liquids at elevated temperatures requires accurate temperature control that is consistent from sample to sample. The Brookfield Thermosel provides a stable test environment with precise temperature control. Given the traditional 1% accuracy of the Brookfield Viscometer, viscosity measurements made with the Thermosel System are not only accurate, but entirely...

Small Sample Viscometer Optimizes R & D Enzyme and Protein Formulations

Boston-Cambridge Viscosity today announced that a U.S.-based industrial enzymes developer has purchased a VISCOlab 4000. The company plans to use the small sample viscometer to monitor viscosity in enzyme and protein formulations. An R&D representative from the company said they chose the VISCOlab 4000 because it is easy to use and meets their need for small sample sizes. The sensor is very easy...

Coating Viscosity Control Best Practices

Coating viscosity control is a significant challenge for all coating operations. While many factors impact the film's ultimate characteristics, the viscosity of the coating material is of central importance in achieving consistency. The viscosity of a coating relates directly to the concentration of coating solids in the fluid, which is the basis for the thickness and uniformity of the film....

Oil Viscosity Index Standardized Using In-line Viscometer

Boston, MA - A leading worldwide maker of premium base oil for lubricants, based in the western U.S., has standardized on Cambridge Viscosity process viscometers for all viscosity index (VI) refinery applications. VI indicates how the oil viscosity changes with temperature, and is a critically important parameter in lubrication oil. Incorporating VI measurement directly in their process lines...
