While the biennial International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) is the biggest manufacturing trade show in North America, there are numerous other industrial trade shows hosted throughout the year across the U.S. Here we look at the top upcoming shows.
AmCon Design and Contract Manufacturing Expo
The traveling AmCon expo "caters to small manufacturers and engineering companies that design, prototype and manufacture parts for other larger companies under contract." The show takes place during spring and fall, with upcoming dates on Sep. 11-12 in Plato, Texas, Sept. 25-26 in Toronto, ON, Oct. 10-11 in Salt Lake City, Utah and Nov. 6-7 Novi, Mich.
AAPEX 2012: Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo
Oct. 29-Nov. 1, Las Vegas, Nev.
AAPEX welcomes more than 128,000 professionals from the global motor vehicle aftermarket industry, including representatives from the air conditioning, automotive lighting, electrical systems, batteries and cooling systems industries.
World Energy Engineering Congress (WEEC)
Oct 31-Nov 2, Atlanta, Ga.
This conference for energy end users and energy professionals features a broad range of seminars and talks from the likes of General Colin Powell, former President Jimmy Carter and keynote speaker Ted Koppel.
Nov. 12-14, Las Vegas, Nev.
The largest metal forming, fabricating, finishing and welding event hosts over 25,000 attendees and 1,100 exhibitors in a huge space in the Las Vegas Convention Center. Visitors can also see technology pavilions that focus on forming and fabricating, lasers, metalforming, tool and die work, tubes and piping, finishing, welding and thermal spray technology solutions.
Jan. 21-24, 2013, Chicago, Ill.
This convention is dedicated to the supply chain and material handling industries, hosting about 800 exhibitors and approximately 30,000 visitors. The 2013 show will feature an expanded show floor at Chicago's McCormick Place and more exhibitors than ever before. Those planning ahead can also look into Modex 2014
, another supply chain, logistics and materials handling show, which will be held in Atlanta's Georgia World Congress Center.
Jan. 21-24, 2013, Chicago, Ill.
McCormick Place will also host the Automate convention, which runs concurrent to ProMat 2013. Visitors only need to purchase one ticket for both events. Automate focuses on the top automation technologies and solutions for industrial applications.
Sustainability in Manufacturing 2012
Feb 12-14, 2013, Anaheim, Calif.
A traveling expo that will also stop in Florida, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Texas, the SIM 2013 expo features premier technology and practices relating to sustainable manufacturing through clean energy systems, CAD/design, energy management software, bio-compostable and recyclable packaging and more.
Globalcon Conference & Expo
March 6-7, 2013, Philadelphia, Pa
The Globalcon Conference advertises itself as an energy, power and facility management show that focuses on HVAC and smart building systems; renewable and alternative energy/onsite generation; lighting efficiency; and plant and facilities management.
Energy Management Congress (EMC) West
June 19-20, 2013
For the first time, EMC will be held in Las Vegas, where business, industrial and institutional energy users and experts will be able to meet and discuss or exhibit new technology. Visitors can participate in seminars and free workshops about new energy and energy efficiency trends and practices.
Oct 15-17, 2013, Los Angeles, Calif.
A trade show on manufacturing in the western U.S., WESTEC primarily focuses on manufacturing technology innovations by area and industry. The show also provides education seminars and conferences, in addition to hosting exhibitor booths.
Dec. 3-6, Orlando Fla.
The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference "promotes cooperation among the armed services, industry, academia and various government agencies in pursuit of improved training and education programs." As the skills gap remains a hot topic of debate, this years expo should provide helpful information and ideas about how to better equip America's workforce through government and private industry cooperation.
