ZRC Announces 9 Year Subtropical Test Results

ZRC Worldwide announced the results of 9 years of exterior testing of ZRC Cold Galvanizing Compound and ZRC ZERO VOC Water-Based Galvanizing Compound at an independent test site in Miami, Florida. Both products have been exposed for testing since 1997.

An evaluation of the test panels by Coating System Design, Inc. of Lakeville, Massachusetts was completed in January 2007. The evaluation concluded, ".....the performance of all four panels of each product after this length of exposure is very encouraging. All panels show an expected appearance after nine years with very little change in appearance in any of the primers. Corrosion on the face of the panels is entirely absent, as is blistering."

The Miami exposure site is located on the southern tip of Florida, the only true subtropical region in the continental US. This site has high intensity sunlight, high annual UV, high year-round temperature, abundant rainfall and very high humidity. When combined, these factors create the ideal site for testing long-term corrosion resistance.

"We're obviously pleased to see these ZRC products performing so well for so long in this extremely harsh environment", said Matthew Steele, President and CEO of ZRC Worldwide. "We've specialized in zinc coating technology for so long that these strong results are not surprising, but I think they prove our superiority in the marketplace".

ZRC Worldwide is the worlds leading manufacturer of zinc rich cold galvanizing compounds.
