Zero Delay Buffers have less than 150 ps output-output skew.

Press Release Summary:

Operating at 3.3 or 2.5 V, Model XRK39351 offers 9 zero delay outputs, LVCMOS/LVPCEL reference inputs, and output frequency of 25-200 MHz. Operating at 3.3 V only, Model offers 8 zero delay outputs along with 1 dedicated feedback, and output frequency of 25-125 MHz. Featuring fan-out phase locked loop clock driver, units accurately align feedback output to clock input signal, ensuring zero delay through IC, and offer tight cycle-to-cycle jitter at less than 22 ps rms.

Exar Adds Second Zero Delay Buffer Family to Growing Clock Portfolio

FREMONT, Calif., Feb. 20 -- Exar Corporation (NASDAQ:EXAR), a leading provider of high-performance, mixed-signal silicon solutions for the worldwide communications infrastructure added a new family of low-skew and low-jitter Zero Delay Buffers (ZDB) to Exar's growing portfolio of clock and timing solutions. Operating at higher speeds than Exar's initial ZDB solutions, the XRK39351 and XRK39653 give designers additional options for current and next generation architectures. Exar's high performance timing solutions are an essential technology for customers to develop highly competitive and lowest cost products for a wide array of digital consumer, industrial, enterprise-level networks and computing applications. Exar previously introduced two families of Intelligent Dynamic Clock Switch (IDCS) devices, a portfolio of 3.3V Programmable Skew Buffer (PSB), as well as its first ZDB products.

"Continuing the Company's momentum in this market, today's launch represents Exar's fifth clock and timing product introduction and newly added device features demonstrate Exar's focus on solving customers' design challenges," said Bahram Ghaderi, vice president and general manager, Network and Transmission Products Division. "These new devices are yet another example of Exar applying its extensive analog and Phase Lock Loop (PLL) design expertise to new solutions and markets."

Product Highlights
Operating at speeds up to 200 MHz, each device distributes one clock input to a bank of nine outputs, resulting in low-skew, low-jitter copies of each clock. The devices accurately align the feedback output to the clock input signal ensuring a zero delay through the IC. The devices offer tight cycle-to-cycle jitter spec at less than 22 ps rms to ensure the production of stable and clean signals. In addition, the XRK39351 operates at either 3.3V or 2.5V, and the XRK39653 operates at only 3.3V.

The XRK39351 and XRK39653 have a fan-out phase locked-loop clock driver intended for high performance computing, telecommunications and data-communications applications. The internal loop filter is tuned to minimize the jitter (or frequency variation) while still providing accurate responses to input frequency changes. The XRK39351 offers nine zero delay outputs with less than 150ps of output-to-output skew, LVCMOS/LVPCEL reference inputs, and an output frequency of 25 MHz to 200 MHz. The XRK39653 offers eight zero delay outputs (along with one dedicated feedback) with less than 150 ps of output-output skew, and an output frequency of 25 MHz to 125 MHz.

"These products provide an opportunity for Exar to engage in many designs that require multi-sourced industry-standard devices," said John Demiray, director of strategic marketing, Network and Transmission Products Division."
