Zebra Technologies' Mobile Printers Now Offer XML Support for Oracle WMS and Supply Chain Applications

Complete Solution Enables Fast, Easy Integration of Direct Thermal Mobile Printers with Enterprise Systems for Greater Efficiency and Productivity, Lower Cost of Ownership

VERNON HILLS, Ill., Oct. 24 // -- Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ:ZBRA), a global leader in on-demand printing solutions for business improvement, announced today that the company's QL Plus and RW Series of direct thermal mobile printers will now offer XML-enabled, direct- connect printing capabilities as a standard feature, along with their existing support of ZPL (Zebra Programming Language). This ease of integration and expanded functionality results in greater efficiency and productivity, as well as reduced total cost of ownership.

Built-in XML support enables Zebra mobile printers to accept and parse incoming data streams directly from Oracle Corporation's Warehouse Management System (WMS), and Mobile Supply Chain Applications (MSCA), to print labels at the point of need without adding middleware or additional print server hardware.

Jeff Tingley, director of global alliances for Zebra Technologies, notes: "Oracle's large installed warehouse and supply chain software customer base has become increasingly focused on the value and benefits delivered by mobile printing in warehousing, supply chain and field service operations. As an Oracle® Certified Partner, our goal in providing XML support in our top mobile printer product lines is to open the door to new and exciting opportunities for end users of Oracle's warehouse and supply chain solutions by making it easier than ever for companies to harness the power of mobile solutions in the enterprise."

The Oracle XML/ZPL Hybrid solution includes ZebraDesigner(TM) for XML, a feature-rich label design software tool; Oracle WMS Integration (PL/SQL and Java code); and printer firmware. Using the solution, along with Zebra printers and performance-matched Zebra supplies, allows an enterprise to quickly and easily extract the variable label data from its Oracle database and send it directly to the Zebra QL Plus or RW Series mobile printer. Many of Zebra's high performance and industrial printer models already feature the popular XML business-to-business data exchange standard.

Zebra's award-winning QL Plus Series and RW Series provide an ideal array of mobile/wireless printer choices for use in a multitude of manufacturing, supply chain, warehouse, distribution and field service/delivery applications. Compact, ruggedly constructed and easy to use, these five printer models are well-suited for on-the-fly label and receipt printing for order fulfillment, shipping, receiving, inventory management, field service calls, direct store delivery and more.
