Xyratex Announces Availability and Volume Shipments of the F5402E 4Gb FC-SAS/SATA RAID System and SATA II Drive Support in the 4Gb RS-1602-F4 SBOD
SAN DIEGO, April 3 -- Xyratex Ltd. (NASDAQ:XRTX), a leader in high performance, innovative storage systems for the OEM and Solution Integrator market, will demonstrate its complete range of 4Gb Fibre Channel (FC) based storage solutions at Storage Networking World Spring 2006 in San Diego, California, April 3rd to the 6th.

"Our comprehensive line of 4Gb storage solutions touts a number of industry firsts, including the FC-SAS/SATA F5402E RAID system, and the RS-1602-F4-SBOD (Switched Bunch of Disks).
The F5402E is the industry's first OEM product to offer a single, integrated 4Gb RAID system with FC connectivity and SAS/SATA drives that is shipping in volume. The F5402E enables OEMs and Solution Integrators to create both primary and secondary data environments in one solution; providing maximum flexibility in a cost-effective, ultra-high performance solution with the scalability and functionality necessary for today's most rigorous applications. Completing the package is Xyratex's embedded StorView(TM) software which configures and administers the F5402E storage system. The F5402E is ideal for any enterprise looking to centralize or streamline their data storage.
The newly enhanced RS-1602-F4-SBD leads the industry with the introduction of SATA II drive support in a 4Gb FC product. This allows customers to standardize on a single enclosure and scale performance or capacity based on their application needs. A FC-SATA bridge module built into the drive carrier affords FC to SATA II translation at the drive level, allowing native 4Gb FC drives and SATA II drives to co-exist on the same fabric, even in the same enclosure.

In addition, Xyratex will also be showing the now available 4835 FC-SATA near-line storage enclosure. This 48 drive enterprise class enclosure provides up to 24TB of storage in 4U and is targeted at bulk storage applications normally served by rack based magnetic tape technology. The 4835 combines FC connectivity and hard disk drive performance within a high availability system architecture, delivering massive density in a scaleable footprint.
Further product demonstrations include a variety of new storage solutions from partners who leverage Xyratex's ATX based Application Platforms to create customized appliances specific to market requirements. Partner demonstrations include solutions from: Wasabi, iStor, Open-e, FalconStor and Datacore.
