New Micro-Focus XRF Analyzers Simplify Elemental Analysis

WOBURN, Mass., March 1, 2005 -- Innov-X Systems, Inc. announces the introduction of its new range of QXi Micro-focus X-ray Fluorescence Analyzers that deliver fast and precise identification and elemental analysis from chlorine to Uranium (Cl to U). Using a collimated beam of 13 mm to 0.1 mm diameter, with laser beam focusing, the QXi system is ideal for testing small or non-homogeneous samples. Applications range from analysis of lead-free solders for electronics, circuit board and chip studies to precious metals, bronzes and alloys. The QXi can perform fully standard-less quantitative analysis with excellent statistical accuracy using measurement times of 30 - 120 seconds for rapid testing of solids, liquids or powders.

Powerful Optics
QXi's video capability aids analysis with a sensitive color CCD camera that allows digital snapshots with magnification of up to 68X. Combined with the laser spot and grid tool for measuring sample size, it enables digital pictures to be conveniently analyzed and stored.

Large Testing Chamber With X-Y Stage and Silicon-PIN Diode Detector
A bench-top unit, its hardened chamber is generously proportioned at 67 cm high by 57 cm wide by 53 cm deep (26.3 X 22.4 X 20.8 inches) to accommodate a broad range of test pieces. An optional X-Y-Z stage affords precise measurements during batch operations. The system incorporates a Silicon-PIN Diode Detector for fast assay application rates at <300eV @6keV.

Isotope Free
The new unit features X-ray tube technology that eliminates radioactive isotopes found in other units. The X-ray source is a 50 kV, 25 W micro-focus X-ray tube. This means no NRC regulation, costly isotope disposal or other restrictions.

Flexible Analysis Software
Powerful Windows(R) software with Fundamental Parameters includes algorithms for complete standard-less analysis. Select X-ray spectra or percentage displays of results, and calculate standard deviations directly from spectrum. Its single button operation provides operating ease, and reporting software enables generating analysis reports and creates databases for sorting measurement data. Software tools allow users to specify the analysis times and sampling procedures to meet QC requirements, such as 3-_ limit.

About Innov-X Systems
Innov-X Systems is an energetic new force in the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) industry. Its systems perform fast, accurate chemical analysis in seconds to identify, differentiate and quantify most materials from the periodic table of elements. Founded in 2001, the company pioneered portable XRF instrumentation using a miniature X-ray tube rather than radioactive isotopes.

With R&D and manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Innov-X has offices in Europe (the Netherlands), South Africa, and Asia (Hong Kong). It maintains sales and service alliances in Canada, the Middle East, South America and worldwide.
