Vasont Systems Delivers the Next Major Release of the Vasont® Content Management System

Prominent XML CMS provider unveils Vasont® ST with more powerful modular content management and project management solutions

EMIGSVILLE, PA - Vasont Systems today announced the release of the next major version of their XML content management system (CMS), Vasont® ST, that enables users to store multilingual content once for maximum reuse and delivery to multiple channels. This release strengthens the CMS's modular content management and project management solutions for both DITA and non-DITA applications. Vasont ST will be available on April 15, 2011 for both the perpetual license and SaaS (software as a service) content management system models.

Enhancements in Vasont ST include:

Release Management to Synchronize Publishing: Vasont ST provides coordinated tools to synchronize multiple release publishing. The synergy between our branching, bi-directional linking, and project management capabilities coordinates an organization's complex release management challenges. Vasont's branch capability automates much of the release management process, saving technical communicators hours of time and making an organization's content more accurate across multiple releases of documentation. This solution makes it easy for users to produce multiple versions of their content simultaneously.

Terminology Management for Word-Level Reuse: To help organizations deliver consistent messaging to their customers, Vasont ST manages the terminology used in documentation. By controlling the words and phrases that are used by the writers, documentation is cleaner, more consistent, and less confusing to the consumer. It also maximizes content reuse for easier and faster revision cycles.

Improved Management of Modular Content: Modular content can now be controlled at the book or map level in Vasont ST. The CMS improves coordination between maps and topics, allowing users to manipulate and monitor modular subcomponents from a book or map and easily view detailed information about the referenced content. This is especially powerful for users of DITA and other modular configurations because it simplifies the editorial process and further maximizes reuse.

DITA 1.2 Support: Vasont ST supports the latest release of the DITA standard, DITA 1.2, as well as other standard and custom DTDs. Vasont ST's existing mapping, reuse and modular content capabilities make Vasont ST an ideal fit for the DITA 1.2 features.

Expanded Reporting for Tracking and Troubleshooting: A series of new reports in Vasont ST allow users to more effectively track related content, identify items that may interfere with publishing, and diagnose referenced modular content with specific criteria. These reports are important tools for users to monitor potential issues with content and resolve them proactively.

Granular Translation for Bigger Savings: Content tracked in Vasont ST can be sent for translation at the most granular component level defined in the system. Component-level translation provides more reuse opportunities for multilingual content and eliminates re-translation of components, saving more money in translation costs.

User Navigation Improvements: Users have more flexibility to customize their user interface settings and to preview textual content and images in Vasont ST, allowing them to quickly find, prioritize and organize the information they need in reference to their content.

"Vasont ST gives users more ways to save time and money in their editorial cycles by working more efficiently," said Richard Schiding, President of Vasont Systems. "In this release, we put a big focus on improving the user experience by providing them with more effective ways to manage and track their content."

Designed to improve productivity and time-to-market of products, the Vasont CMS makes it easy for organizations to manage their multilingual technical documentation and business information. The system's comprehensive single-source functionality stores content once, ensuring accuracy and increasing the efficiency of repurposing content to multiple media formats while managing the workflow and the overall business process of creating and publishing content.
