Xilinx Demonstrates Low Power Solutions for Radio Modem and Cryptography at MILCOM 2006

What: Xilinx at (MILCOM) 2006

Where: Marriott Wardman Park Hotel
Booth #519
Washington, D.C.

When: October 23 - 25, 2006

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 20 -- Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX), the world's leading PLD provider today announced that it will showcase modem and crypto solutions designed to reduce the size, weight and power of military radios at the Military Communications (MILCOM) 2006 conference, October 23-25, 2006 in Washington, D.C.

Xilinx Booth Demonstrations:

WNW Radio:

Demonstration of the Nova Stingray, one of the smallest SDR radios available today, demonstrates the WNW OFDM waveform running on Xilinx Virtex-4 LX60 FPGA. This SCA-compliant radio runs the entire waveform stack (layers 1 through 7), and covers the spectrum from 200 MHz to 2 GHz. The demonstration consists of a streaming video application, showing large, continuous, and uninterrupted stream of data.

JTRS SDR Kit:

Demonstration of the first commercially available development platform that uses an SCA-enabled SoC architecture and partial reconfiguration of the FPGA to lower the size, weight and power of a modem. Jointly developed by Xilinx and ISR Technologies, a Virtex-4 FX60 supports the full SCA operating environment on an embedded general purpose processor in the FPGA and supports multiple independent waveforms in a single chip.

MIMO/OFDM Wireless Platform:

Demonstration of the WARP Platform, jointly developed by Rice University and Xilinx, is designed to be a low cost SoC-based platform that can support MIMO and OFDM processing for defense applications, as well as commercial applications such as broadband wireless. This demonstration will consist of video streaming wirelessly from one platform to an adjacent platform.

High-Speed F-LDPC Encoder/Decoder:

Demonstration of the high speed error correction capability of TrellisWare's Flexible Low Density Parity Check (F-LDPC) technology by encoding a 1 Gbps raw digital video stream, corrupting the stream with noise, and decoding the stream before displaying it on a monitor. The visual integrity of the displayed video will be a qualitative indicator of the F- LDPC's performance.

Technical Session:

"FPGA-based Single Chip Cryptographic Solution"
Jason Moore of Xilinx and Mark McLean of NSA.
