Lumex Expands SunBrite Family of General Illumination LEDs

WITH COST-EFFECTIVE, HIGH-PERFORMANCE MR-16 AND MODULAR LIGHTBAR TECHNOLOGIES

New technologies combine high-performance with significant energy savings

PALATINE, IL - Lumex announces the expansion of the SunBrite(TM) family of general illumination LED technologies. Two new SunBrite technology categories - the SunBrite 5-Watt MR-16 Retrofit LED and the SunBrite Modular LED Lightbar are now available worldwide.

Combining considerable energy savings with superior performance, the new SunBrite LED technologies are ideally suited for a wide range of applications including: general, spot and track lighting in residential, commercial and industrial applications.

SunBrite 5-Watt MR-16 Retrofit LED

The SunBrite 5-Watt MR-16 Retrofit LED provides significant cost and performance benefits compared to halogen alternatives widely available in the market today. The SunBrite MR-16 Retrofit LED technology offers comparable brightness (300 Lumens at 12 volts) and color performance (CRI over 80) to halogen alternatives, while simultaneously providing significant energy, cost and lifespan improvements.

The RoHs-compliant SunBrite MR-16 LED uses up to 80% less energy (current) than alternative halogen technologies. Additionally, the lifespan of the MR-16 LED is up to 8x longer than that of a standard halogen technology (17 years compared to roughly 2 years assuming Energy Star average daily usage of 4 hours/day).

The metal body construction of the MR-16 LED serves as a natural heat sink and makes the technology more durable than halogen alternatives. This greatly reduces labor costs associated with bulb replacements - especially in high-ceiling or other difficult to reach locations.

Despite a higher initial upfront price tag compared to standard halogens, the reduced energy expenditure, longer lifespan and enhanced durability offered by the SunBrite MR-16 LED allow the new technology to pay for itself in less than one year and to generate a cost savings of up to 80% cost savings over a single year.

The SunBrite 5-Watt MR-16 Retrofit LEDs (SSP-M16-Series) are available in both warm and cool white varieties with viewing angles of 24° for spotlighting technologies or 50° for wider-view applications. The technologies run at 12volts in either AC or DC. Pricing is roughly $20 in production quantities or $30 for smaller quantities.

SunBrite Modular LED Lightbar

The SunBrite Modular LED Lightbar technologies combine high-performance, ease-of-installation, flexibility and cost savings. Unlike many alternative lightstrip technologies, the SunBrite LED Lightbar can be installed with ease without the need to hire an electrician to open walls and install new wiring.

The modular technology family features a wide variety of compatible components making it possible to mix-and-match individual pieces in a wide variety of sizes and formats in order to create a solution ideally suited for each unique application. Users can create their own unique lightstrip kit from the following available technologies:

o Lightbar is available in lengths of 6, 12 and 24 inches. Lightstrips can be easily joined together to create desired length (maximum of 40 watts).

o Compatible connector cables are available in 10 inch, 20 inch or 40 inch lengths to connect lightstrips to desired length.

o Mounting clips are available in 45° or 90° angle varieties.

o A specially designed transformer is available to allow for simplified installation and immediate wall plug-in.

o A dimmer switch is available and effective on an entire line of connected light switches.

The SunBrite Modular LED Lightbar technologies (SSP-LB-Series) match the brightness performance (200-300 Lumens per foot at 24 volts) of other leading easy-installation LED lightstrips brands but is available at up to a 5% cost savings. Prices range from $25-$30 per foot in production quantities and from $35-$40 per foot in smaller quantities. The new technology is CE, UL, IP60 and RoHS compliant.

Warm, neutral and cool white colors are available in standard formats. Custom RGB technologies can also be created in any color. Lumex provides cost-effective custom solutions with speed unmatched in the market today.
