CAS Announces New Cold Chain Solution for Vaccine Transportation

ESCORT iLog External Temperature Data Logger With Internal and External Probes

CHESTERLAND OH - According to the CDC, anywhere from one fifth to one third of healthcare providers store their vaccines at improper storage temperatures. Most commonly recommended vaccines require storage at a temperature constant of 35°F--46°F (2°C--8°C). Refrigerator temperatures are usually kept too cold rather than too warm, but freezing temperatures can irreversibly reduce vaccine potency, forming a risk to patient health. Further, these damaging exposures to freezing temperatures are not always obvious afterward, and can even lack visible signs of freezing. To help safeguard these precious substances, CAS DataLoggers has partnered with popular manufacturer ESCORT to announce the iLog External Temperature Data Logger for use in transporting vaccines and other high-value life science materials such as blood and tissue samples. Designed expressly for use in the medical, life science, and pharmaceutical industries, the iLog provides cold chain visibility to offer personnel decision-making at a glance, a vital capability to ensure quality, safety and regulatory compliance.

The iLog temperature logger is equipped with an internal sensor ranging from -40°C to +70°C (-40°F to 158°F) and an external temperature sensor measuring across -20°C to +100°C (-4°F to 212°F) providing constant, failsafe temperature monitoring. The clear LCD display clearly shows the data logger's current readings, while active and alarm LEDs and customizable alarm settings keep users appraised of the logger's current status. Multi-function viewing is provided to view real-time data, and a programmable start function enables hassle-free monitoring. Equipped with a powerful 0.1°C resolution, the ESCORT iLog closely monitors even slight changes in product temperature. Internal sensor accuracy is ± 0.35°C from -40°C to 0°C and ± 0.25°C from 0°C to +70°C, while external sensor accuracy is ± 0.30°C from -20°C to 0°C, ± 0.25°C from 0°C to +70°C, and ± 0.30°C from +70°C to +100°C. The iLog can store up to 32,000 samples on its memory, and users can bookmark readings to identify important points in time via a simple magnet swipe. This compact and lightweight temperature logger and its probes fit easily inside a refrigerator or cooler, making for a convenient monitoring solution, and the logger is rated IP 65 with its external sensor connected to protect against jostling and liquids. Additionally, the temperature logger can be programmed in either Celsius or Fahrenheit.

Free ESCORT Console multi-language software provides an intuitive and user-friendly interface for configuring the temperature data logger. Data transfer to generic formats such as Excel offers data accessibility, enabling quick downloading for later analysis. Users can also view data by time and increments as well as create customized graph labels to ensure total quality control for temperature-sensitive products and services, increasing patient safety.
