Precision Associates Produces the "World's Smallest O-Ring"
Minneapolis, MN - U.S. seal manufacturer Precision Associates announced today that the company has successfully manufactured what it believes to be is the world's smallest O-Ring. The molded O-Ring has a Cross section of .006" (.15 mm) and an Inside Diameter of .008" (.2 mm). "With an Outside Diameter of only .020" (.5 mm), this O-Ring is 2/3 the size of our previous smallest seal" stated the company's manufacturing manager.
Precision Associates has been unable to locate an O-Ring this small made by any other seal manufacturer. The mold used to produce the O-Rings and the actual parts were both manufactured on-site by Precision Associates, Inc. Continued miniaturization of equipment used in the electronics, medical and fluid power industries have required ever smaller sealing components in recent years. Precision Associates made this O-Ring as part of an ongoing effort to determine the smallest usable seal that the company can produce.
