Yea-Sacc®1026 Granted Full EU Authorization for Use in Horses

Dublin, IRELAND - Yea-Sacc®1026 from Alltech, a live yeast culture based on Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain 1026, has been granted full European Union authorisation as a feed additive for horses under Commission Regulation (EC) No. 886/2009.

The authorisation follows years of extensive scientific research conducted in collaboration with leading universities and equine research authorities in Europe and throughout the world.

This extensive third party research with Yea-Sacc1026 in equines has highlighted two particularly key functions of the technology, namely: its ability to increase the amount of energy released from the horse's total diet; and the fact that it improves the amount of fibre digested by the animal. These two areas are crucial in maintaining and satisfying the animal's nutritional requirements.

As a digestibility enhancer, Yea-Sacc1026 is scientifically proven to ensure healthy fermentation of the feed resulting in maximum extraction of all nutrients, whilst preventing any digestive upset in the horse.

The EU authorisation coincides with the one year countdown to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010(TM) to be held in Kentucky, USA, in 2010. Alltech is title sponsor of these world championships which will showcase the eight equestrian disciplines recognised by the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI).
