MagneMotion to Introduce New MagneMover(TM) LITE System at Pack Expo 2009, Booth #C4210

MagneMover(TM) LITE LSM transport system provides an intelligent and clean alternative to chain conveyors

Devens, MA (September 18, 2009)

MagneMotion, a developer and manufacturer of Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) transport systems used for process automation, assembly automation and transportation applications, today announced that it will introduce its newest product line, the MagneMover(TM) LITE Transport System, to the packaging industry at Pack Expo 2009 from October 5-7, 2009 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV in Booth #C4210.

MagneMover LITE is an electro-magnetic transport system that specifically addresses applications requiring the movement of smaller, lighter payloads weighing less than 2 kg, ideal for a wide range of packaging applications. MagneMover LITE precisely and accurately moves loads on small 60mm carriers or pucks with the ability to independently control the motion of hundreds to thousands of pucks in a track network. The demonstration system on display at Pack Expo will show the full capabilities of the production units, which will be available to order in the 3rd quarter of 2010.

A selection of standard MagneMover LITE track building blocks, including but not limited to 1-meter and 1/4 meter straights, 90 and 180 degree curves, and merges / diverges, fit together in a plug-and-play manner to form an almost endless variety of layout options. The track pieces are the linear motors and contain all the propulsion and intelligent routing control elements, along with the guidance and attachment features for structural supports to allow for rapid assembly and track configuration. The system is ideally suited for environments requiring clean operation and/or wash down (IP 65) capability and can also support "track and trace" requirements as each puck is uniquely identified and constantly tracked everywhere along the track network by the MagneMotion control system.

"The MagneMover LITE system provides a whole new level of capability and performance in response to market demands for higher throughputs, lower maintenance and more accurate control than can be provided by the incumbent conveyor systems used for packaging," stated MagneMotion Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Peter Mattila. "With the capability to move product at 2 meters per second and position it with an accuracy of a fraction of a millimeter, MagneMover LITE has 3 to 4 times the throughput capacity of a chain conveyor. Once the product gets to a process station we stop it quickly and hold it there with precision linear motor control and with no need for third party stops or pneumatics. Once the process is done, the product is on its way to the next destination in a matter of milliseconds. The MagneMover LITE system offers a very significant performance improvement over the chain, belt, and precision link conventional conveyor technologies that are prevalent in packaging applications," Mattila concluded.
