New Shiftable Worm Gear Drives

The new line of DAW series transmissions from Drive-All Manufacturing Company, Inc., Harbor Beach, MI, is unique in the marketplace. It fulfills a need that has long existed in multiple-speed engineered drives for machine tools, high-speed production machinery, automation machinery and robotics. Engineers may now combine widely varied ratios into one drive - from 1:1 to a maximum of 60:1 in a standard configuration. And, for the first time, a multi-speed transmission will shift-on-the-fly while under full load. Smaller motors and variable speed drives may be used since it maintains motor horsepower through all of the reductions and multiplies torque, thus lowering costs.
Various configurations of the transmission provide design flexibility and latitude in multi-speed transmissions.

Eleven different model sizes are available. The DAW is also available in a manual shift version at a lower overall cost.

The Model DAW standard series is rated at up to 50 input horsepower at 1800 RPM and comes in four basic configurations. It is available with up to four separate speeds at a maximum of 60:1 reduction and a maximum of 4:1 increase. The DAW-S is single input with a single output shaft; the DAW-SD is single input with dual output shafts that may be solid or split; the DAW-DS is a single input with dual output shafts and the output shafts are coaxial shaft-over-shaft, and the DAW-SI is single input with single output that is parallel-offset. The first three configurations comprise a right angle drive while the last one provides a parallel-offset configuration.

The Model DAW is applicable for many industries. Among them are metal forming, special machine tools, chemical mixing and blending, robotics, material handling, plastics, wire and cable, pulp and paper and many more.

This new DAW series is the latest to join the Drive-All product line of transmissions, known industry-wide for providing long life and trouble-free operation.
