Dickies Occupational Wear Launches Ecopride Line

Dickies Uniform Customers May Now Offer Products Crafted from Recycled PET Plastic

FORT WORTH, Texas,  -- For more than 90 years, Dickies has built a reputation in the marketplace for providing durable, comfortable and functional workwear at an unmatched value. The Dickies Occupational Wear division's recent announcement of the new Ecopride Line continues the brand's ongoing commitment to meet the needs of workers in an evolving workforce with innovative, performance-driven work apparel and accessories.

Unveiled at CLEAN Show 2013 in New Orleans, the new Dickies Ecopride Line is an environmentally responsible uniform offering crafted from cotton polyester fabric containing a minimum of 23 percent recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic. The Ecopride line features four garments: a 5-Pocket Jean, Carpenter Jean, Long Sleeve Poplin Shirt and Relaxed Fit Twill Work Pant.

"We know that more and more companies in the uniform marketplace are looking to integrate environmentally responsible practices into the way they do business," said Alex Smith, senior vice president of occupational wear at Dickies. "With the Dickies Ecopride Line, our customers can now offer a uniform option from a brand they know and have trusted for decades that incorporates these environmentally responsible practices."

Dickies uses REPREVE® recycled polyester, created from post-industrial fiber waste and post-consumer plastic bottles, with the brand's durable cotton fabric to create Ecopride Line garments. This unique blend is remarkably soft and lightweight while maintaining Dickies' signature durability and comfort. Additionally, compared to virgin polyester, the manufacturing of REPREVE® recycled polyester uses less water and energy consumption and produces less greenhouse gas emissions.

"There are nine water bottles recycled into each pair of our new Ecopride jeans, which is pretty exciting for our industry," added Smith. "The Ecopride Line delivers the legendary Dickies toughness for which our brand is known, coupled with environmentally responsible practices. We're excited about this new offering and look forward to seeing the impact it has in the marketplace."

In addition to the Dickies Ecopride Line, the occupational wear division recently launched a head-to-toe uniform solution, service expansion to Canada and Mexico, and garment embroidery services.
