BristolGuard® Machine-Mounted Work Shield Offers Convenient Protection from Flying Debris

A machine-mounted, see-thru work shield from Bristol Equipment Company provides a convenient, personal safety barrier for workers who must operate or watch dangerous, debris-slinging processes. BristolGuard® provides face protection from flying chips, coolant or broken tools while allowing an unobstructed and undistorted view through a clear polycarbonate panel, 9" high by 14" wide. Ample returns formed into the polycarbonate at both ends of the panel, extending toward the workside, enlarge the lateral arc of protection and let the user view the work from side angles without having to reposition the workshield.

BristolGuard helps support compliance with OSHA Regulations (Standards-29 CFR, Number 1910.212, Subpart 0) affecting machine guarding requirements for such operations as milling, drilling, turning, grinding, welding, buffing, polishing, sawing, soldering, sanding and similar operations that produce flying hazards.

The shield is easily swung aside for workpiece setup then returned to operating position. A large, vertical handgrip, bolted onto one end of the polycarbonate panel and angled ergonomically for comfortable access, allows full control of multi-directional shield movement with one hand.

A two-piece, steel mounting arm, ending in a baseplate drilled for screw-attachment to machinery housings, workbenches, walls or virtually any nearby support surface, holds the shield securely in place. This arm is jointed with five pivot points that allow virtually any desired shield placement, and equipped with thumbscrew tension adjusters that can be set by the worker to any preferred amount of tension. The mounting arm is available in two lengths, 20" or 31".

For applications involving longer workpieces or side-to-side tool movement, an extra-wide BristolGuard provides a polycarbonate panel 10" high x 19" wide. This unit is supported by two articulated mounting arms and fitted with two vertical handgrips, mounted on stainless steel panels angled toward the workside at each end of the shield. Top and bottom returns formed into the polycarbonate facing the workside add strength and durability to the shield while enlarging the protective envelope above and below the shield.

Optional BristolGuard accessories include rear guard panels to contain debris flying to the side or rear of machinery, and special mounting kits for bench clamp installation or mounting on column-type machines.
