Wolters Kluwer Health Collaborates with Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses on Lippincott Decision-Support Solutions

AMSN to Review Content in Lippincott Procedures

PHILADELPHIA – Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information and point-of-care solutions for the healthcare industry, today announced a collaboration with the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN) to review the core medical-surgical procedures in the Lippincott Procedures software application, one of the leading online procedure solutions for use by nurses and other clinicians at the bedside.  The procedures are being reviewed and modified by a select team of medical-surgical experts from the association's membership of more than 10,000 nurses.

The collaboration calls for AMSN to review more than 300 medical-surgical nursing procedures.  In the process, both new and existing procedures will be added and/or modified to ensure that they meet the AMSN current, evidence-based standards of exemplary quality-of-care.

"We are partnering with Wolters Kluwer Health because we share the same goal of helping nurses make use of the most up-to-date, evidence-based practices available to improve patient outcomes," said Kathleen Lattavo, MSN, RN, CNS-MS, CMSRN, RNBC, ACNS-BC, President of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses. "The Lippincott Procedures product is regarded by our membership as one of the best online point-of-care resources for practicing clinicians.  We feel that bringing our members' expertise into the mix supports the product and our mission of helping nurses improve their quality of care."

"We keep our Lippincott Procedures product clinically current by placing it under the microscope of ongoing peer review," said Carolyn Dalton, Senior Digital Product Manager, Wolters Kluwer Health, Professional & Education.  "Teaming up with AMSN helps us continue this course, albeit at an even higher level, with a fresh group of highly qualified clinicians who have been handpicked by the organization as the most knowledgeable and up-to-date in their field."

Lippincott Procedures is one of the most widely deployed, web-based nursing applications for evidence-based practice information used in hospitals and other healthcare institutions.  It gives clinicians accurate, step-by-step guidance for more than 1,400 evidence-based procedures.  Video clips and high-quality visuals that aid in understanding accompany most of the procedures.  Skills checklists and competency tests for each procedure are provided to help facilities verify staff competence.  Each procedure undergoes a thorough annual review process to ensure it includes the most up-to-date clinical information.

Lippincott Procedures, part of theLippincott Nursing Solutionsproduct suite, is available as a group subscription to hospitals and other healthcare facilities.  The product is accessible from any Internet-enabled device including PCs and mobile devices including iPad and Android tablets as well as an iPad app.  To learn more or to purchase, call 855-695-5070, visit LippincottSolutions.com/Procedures, and follow Lippincott Nursing Solutions on Twitter @NurseSolutions.
