Softeon Adds New Interactive Voice Capabilities to its Warehouse Management System, Increasing Productivity and the Powering the RFID-Enabled WMS

Softeon announced today it has added powerful new interactive Voice capabilities to its Warehouse Management System (WMS) and advanced ELITE series supply chain execution solutions. These new features provide a number of benefits to Softeon customers, especially those adopting RFID-based distribution systems, and extend the capabilities of what is already the most advanced approach to Voice technology in the WMS industry.

Vienna, VA (PRWEB) March 28, 2006 -- Softeon, provider of the industry's most innovative software solutions for supply chain execution, announced today it has added powerful new interactive Voice capabilities to its Warehouse Management System (WMS) and advanced ELITE series supply chain execution solutions. These new features provide a number of benefits to Softeon customers, especially those adopting RFID-based distribution systems, and extend the capabilities of what is already the most advanced approach to Voice technology in the WMS industry.

Softeon currently supports advanced Voice capabilities within its WMS, allowing real-time integration of Voice processing without the need for the additional sub-system software required by most WMS providers. The company is currently delivering significant productivity gains to one of Anheuser-Busch's largest distributors through a warehouse management system that is almost completely Voice-based.

The new interactive Voice capabilities, which are being demonstrated this week at the North American Material Handling show in Cleveland (booth #1434), add to this industry-leading foundation by providing new-to-market capabilities to proactively deliver event-based warnings, information or instructions to operators and supervisors via Voice.

This proactive capability will provide exceptional benefits in RFID-based WMS systems, and addresses limitations of traditional RF terminals in RFID-enabled distribution centers. In RFID-enabled systems, tag reads will trigger events or cause the WMS to become aware of errors. However, there is no easy way to alert the operator to this new information via the RF terminal screen. Using a wireless speaker or headset, the Softeon WMS will produce an event-based Voice notification to the operator, without the need to refresh an RF terminal screen or be dependent on the operator interacting with the screen to receive the information.

"This interactive Voice capability will provide significant benefits to WMS users in terms of efficiency and error reduction," said Gana Govind, president of Softeon. "There are almost limitless potential applications, and we believe these capabilities will be essential in event-based, RFID-enabled WMS applications."

The interactive Voice capabilities are available currently, and can be used in conjunction with Voice systems and terminals from any supplier, such as Intermec, LXE, Vocollect, and Voxware.
