silex technology(R) america Introduces Innovative Wireless Connectivity Solution for USB Sewing Machines

silex StitchLink(TM) Provides Wireless Communications Between PC and Sewing Machines

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 3 -- silex technology america, Inc., today announced StitchLink -- a wireless USB device server specifically designed to easily provide wireless connectivity for USB sewing machines. The company will showcase StitchLink for the first time publicly at the VDTA/SDTA Las Vegas Convention 2005 February 3-5 in booth #753.

Available in March, StichLink was developed especially for the sewing machine market and allows users to wirelessly move software upgrades and patterns directly to the sewing machine eliminating the need to use removable storage disks or to have a PC locally connected to the sewing machine. It also eliminates the messy cables between a PC and sewing machine. StichLink has been tested with most popular USB enabled sewing machines and is as simple to use as a direct connection using a cable.

"We are excited to bring a whole new level of functionality and convenience to sewing machine users," said Keith Sugawara, silex vice president of networking division. "It is another unique example of silex's flexibility in delivering demand-oriented USB device network connectivity for specialized uses."

Today's sewing machines provide more capabilities and options than ever before. In fact it has become common for sewing enthusiasts to download new embroidery patterns and software upgrades for sewing machines from the Internet to a PC and then upload them to a sewing machine.

Traditionally, if the PC and sewing machine were in close proximity to each other, a serial or USB cable was used for direct communication, which is inconvenient, costly, and requires a mess of cables. Another option is to use a USB removable media storage drive attached to the sewing machine. With this, a user can copy a pattern to the disk or flash drive, and then walk the disk over to the drive attached to the sewing machine. The problem with this scenario is that it requires many steps in the download, copy, disk transfer, and upload process.

StitchLink solves these issues by allowing the computer to be in one room, the sewing machine in another and wirelessly communicating to each other.
