Wilcoxon Introduces New Compact BlueLynx(TM) Wireless Sensor Links at Sensors Expo

Wilcoxon Research, Inc., a leading manufacturer of industrial sensors for predictive maintenance, process control and data acquisition applications, will introduce the new compact BlueLynx BLM Wireless Sensor Links at the Sensors Expo 2003 which will be held in Anaheim's Convention Center from September 22 - 25, 2003. The new sensor links will be half the width of previous BlueLynx units, this expanding installation versatility. "Reflecting progress in Bluetooth industrial technology, the smaller units enable greater signaling density. This contributes to lowering the cost of signal transmission be requiring smaller NEMA enclosures. This also allows applications with size constraints to utilize Bluetooth wireless signaling," said Bill Drake, Business Development Manager for Wilcoxon's BlueLynx Wireless Group.

The BlueLynx (TM) BLM Wireless Sensor Links features 100-meter range and Class 1 Bluetooth(TM) technology for industrial (-40 to +85°C operation) applications. All BlueLynx units are built upon the Bluetooth technology platform, which utilizes a frequency hopping spread spectrum technique within the 2.4 GHz ISM band to ensure a user license-free and secure communication. Some of the
advantages of installing BlueLynx wireless units versus cabling are lower cost to install and maintain, flexibility for inaccessible areas, and improved safety in hazardous or awkward locations.

The BlueLynx BLM-T transmitter collects analog signals from up to four standard 4-20mA sensors and transmits data wirelessly to a BlueLynx BLM-R receiver wired to a PLC, DCS or other instrumentation system.

In addition to the BlueLynx BLM, Wilcoxon is demonstrating its dynamic and 4-20mA vibration sensors in conjunction with National Instruments(TM) LabView software and FieldPoint hardware in booth 814. The 4-20 sensors provide a convenient means of trending the health of industrial machinery such as fans, compressors, and motors. Dynamic vibration accelerometers provide signals for precise data analysis using standard data collection equipment.
