New UTStarcom Handset is Designed to Get Consumers to Picture the Practicality of an Affordable and Easy-to-Use Camera Phone

LAS VEGAS and HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., April 5, 2006 -- Improving communications without increasing complexity or pricing is the focus of the new CDM7075 wireless camera phone from UTStarcom Personal Communications, a division of UTStarcom Inc. (Nasdaq: UTSI). The CDM7075, which is being introduced this week at CTIA Wireless 2006, booth # 1106, is an attractive and affordable camera phone that is designed to appeal to the non-camera consumers by combining quality, practicality and style.

"UTStarcom recognized that there are still significant numbers of mobile phone users who have resisted upgrading to a camera phone because they are convinced that the handsets they are using are satisfactory," said Philip Christopher, President of UTStarcom Personal Communications.

"By combining great looks with ease of use and affordability, we believe this is the phone that will convince consumers to add digital photography to their mobile communications capability."

Weighing a mere 3.5 ounces and measuring just 3.5" (h) x 1.9" (w) x 0.9" (d), the clamshell-style CDM7075 comes as a dual-mode (800/1900 Mhz) unit that includes a practical 330K CMOS camera. The device features a 1.8" 65 Color CSTN (128 x 160) main display screen for vivid photo and text images and a 1.0" Black & White STN (96 x 64) exterior sub-display.

The CDM7075 supports commonly-used image formats including BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG and supports audio formats including QCELP, EVRC and MP3 (ringtones only). With voice-activated dialing and built-in speakerphone, users will find it easy to make calls and feel safe to stay on a call especially while driving.

With MSM6050 chipset and 32MB/8MB Flash/RAM memory capacity, the CDM7075 supports SMS and enhanced text messaging with picture and sound. It can save up to 500 phonebook entries and comes with a powerful Lithium Ion 950 mAh battery, which allows users up to 3.5 hours of talk-time and about 7 days of stand-by time.
