Original Press Release:
Wireless Energy Meter Helps Property Managers Control Energy Costs
Victoria, BC (5/31/2005) - Power Measurement today introduced the next step in affordable energy management: the socket-based ION® 6300 wireless energy meter. With a low installed cost, exceptional scalability, and accuracy verified to national sub-billing standards (ANSI C12.20 and C12.1), the intelligent ION 6300 meter offers an affordable energy monitoring solution for large commercial properties, including office buildings and retail malls. The ION 6300 socket-mount meter is the newest addition to the Power Measurement line of wireless metering products, joining the company's ION 6100 wireless panel-mount meter. The meters form a wireless network that automatically reports energy consumption on each tenant space for individual and aggregate billing purposes. Property managers can then use this information to help manage accounts, conserve energy, and recover energy costs.
With no conduit or wires to run, installation is simple and inexpensive. Each tenant is equipped with a wireless ION 6300 socket-mount meter to record usage, and an ION Wireless Gateway is installed nearby to receive radio signals (from up to 100 meters). The gateway then converts the energy data into industry-standard XML format for export to a Microsoft® Excel spreadsheet, or an enterprise energy management software program such as Power Measurement's ION Enterprise® or ION EEM. Building managers can monitor energy usage as real-time or logged data for anywhere in the network. To extend the reach of wireless meters across longer distances, an optional ION Wireless Repeater unit is also available in AC or solar-powered configurations.
According to Scott Henneberry, vice president, marketing and business development, the ION 6300 wireless metering technology offers commercial property managers a cost-effective way to sub-meter tenants, departments or loads. "By avoiding expensive wiring and configuration procedures, a wireless system can save hundreds of dollars per metering point in installation costs alone," said Henneberry. "For large multi-tenant properties, this can represent considerable savings - but anyone interested in controlling energy costs can benefit from a versatile solution like this. For commercial energy management and sub-billing applications, the ION 6300 offers an accurate, reliable and affordable solution."
The ION 6300 wireless energy meter and other ION wireless metering system components are available now, in North America, from Power Measurement. For more information, visit http://www.pwrm.com/products/ION6300.
