Wireless Data Logger operates in temperatures up to 125°C.

Press Release Summary:

Operating in 868 MHz ISM band and over -20 to +125°C range, MSR385WD records temperature, humidity, and pressure values transmitted by MSR385SM modules. Latter can communicate over distances of up to 500 m and allow for adjustment of measuring and transmission intervals: 1 sec, 10 sec, 1 min, 15 min, or 1 hr. Multi-channel data logger, featuring integrated ISM band receiver module, receives and stores measured data of up to 10 MSR385SM transmitter modules.

MSR385WD: New Data Logger with Wireless Sensors for Operating Temperatures up to 125 °C

Seuzach –  Permanently record temperature, humidity and pressure values using miniature transmitter modules over long periods of time, at operating temperatures from -20 °C to +125 °C, even in inaccessible locations: The new MSR385WD wireless data logger by MSR Electronics GmbH, which operates in the 868 MHz ISM band, offers these options.

Two years after the market launch of the first wireless data logger as part of the miniaturised series of MSR data loggers, the Swiss technology company is expanding its product range further towards wireless applications. With the MSR385WD, MSR Electronics GmbH is therefore rolling out a new universal wireless data logger, which above all features a very broad operating temperature range of the miniature transmitter modules.

MSR385SM temperature-resistant miniature transmitter modules

In order to ensure the temperature-resistance of the miniature transmitter modules, MSR Electronics falls back on many years of experience in the field of silicone casting technology for waterproof electronics applications. This technology can be used to optimally protect the wireless sensors of the transmitter modules, allowing for metrological applications even under harsh environmental conditions, for instance in continuous furnaces. The measured values are transmitted by means of transmitter modules equipped with either internal or external temperature, humidity and pressure sensors, in the unlicensed ISM frequency band at 868 MHz, across distances of up to 500 m. The measuring and transmission intervals of the transmitter modules can be adjusted as follows: 1 s, 10 s, 1 min, 15 min, 1 h. Depending on the type of housing selected, the transmitter modules are supplied with power either by means of a rechargeable 260 mAh lithium-polymer battery or an 800 mAh Li-SOCl2 battery. The optimised power management ensures that – depending on the frequency of measurements and radio transmissions – the power supply to the MSR385SM miniature transmitter modules is warranted for up to five years. Equipped with the smallest type of housing, such a compact transmitter module weighs approximately 25 g and measures just 35 x 55 x 25 mm externally. Therefore, it can be positioned even in inaccessible locations, for instance in working machines, or for inconspicuously measuring the climate, e.g. in display cabinets of museums.

MSR385WD Data Logger manages up to ten transmitter modules

The multi-channel data logger, which features an integrated ISM band receiver module, receives and stores the measured data of up to ten MSR385SM transmitter modules. An integrated flash memory safeguards the data security in the event of a power failure. The measurement trends of the transmitter modules recorded by the data logger can be read out via a USB interface and processed further using the MSR PC software for data analysis purposes. “In addition,” states Wendelin Egli, CEO of MSR Electronics GmbH, “we are developing a connection by means of a GSM module.” According to Egli, this will facilitate the connection of the MSR385WD to the “MSR SmartCloud”, a web-based service for mobile data monitoring by MSR Electronics.

The wireless data logger is equipped with a colour OLED display for a compact representation of data. The high screen resolution facilitates easy reading of measured values, even in total darkness and from virtually any viewing angle. The display is switched on and off manually; the desired display data can be configured using the MSR PC software.

The MSR385WD will be available by the end of May 2015.
