Molex Designs Sealed, High-Density, Wire-to-Board, CMC Hybrid Connectors for Heavy-Duty Transportation Applications

LISLE, Ill. - October 24, 2008 - Molex Incorporated (NASDAQ: MOLX and MOLXA) is expanding its CMC (Connectors Modular for Controllers) product line. Available in standard and power versions, Molex's CMC product line can be used for several modes of transportation vehicles, including cars, trucks, busses and motorcycles as well as marine and agricultural equipment. These wire-to-board, hybrid connectors are a cost-effective solution for power train and body electronics applications, such as engine-control units, gearboxes, electronic-park brakes, junction boxes and suspension controllers.

"Molex has strengthened its CMC connector family with the development of standard and power hybrid connectors specifically designed to perform in high-conductivity applications and harsh environments," said Selvan Ili, global product manger, Molex Incorporated. "With nearly ten years of experience, Molex is a major actor in the definition of the CMC Standard Interface."

Molex CMC connectors are secure and reliable, using a high-performing matte seal with multiple sealing lips. Additional features include a terminal position assurance. An integrated locking lever provides a safe and low mating force while mating with the header. Color-coded to match mechanical keying for easy visual installation, Molex's CMC hybrid connectors are available in multiple terminal sizes to support low, medium and high-current data requirements. Various backplate configurations and plug seals provide ultimate flexibility and reliability when terminal cavities are not used. A wire cap guides the wires away from the connector.

The CMC hybrid connector family is a modular system that fits with various headers. Several circuit sizes are available for any customer application: Its standard hybrid version runs with Molex CP terminal 0.635mm (.025") and CP 1.50mm (.059") in 22-, 24-, 32-, 36-, and 48-circuit versions. Its power hybrid version runs with Molex CP terminal 0.635mm (.025"), 1.50mm (.059") and 2.80mm (.110") in 28- and 53-circuit versions. Both versions operate at temperatures between -40 and +125°C. Plans to further extend Molex's CMC connector and header products are in development.
