Original Press Release:

MIller's 70 Series Wire Feeder Now Replaces 60 Series Models

- 60 Series not available after May 31, 2002
- 700 Series products from 2001 renamed 70 Series products.
- New feeders offer simpler controls, more flexibility APPLETON, Wis., April 26, 2002 - Miller Electric Mfg. Co. has announced that effective May 31 its new 70 Series semi-automatic, constant speed wire feeders will replace its standard 60 Series wire feeders. After that date, Miller will no longer accept orders for 60 Series feeders. Replacement parts and upgrade kits for 60 Series feeders will remain available. Miller's 64M programmable feeder, designed especially for pulsed GMAW (MIG) welding, remains a core product. The 70 Series feeders are available in single- and dual bench-top models, Swingarc(TM) (boom-mounted systems), high-speed and CE European configurations. Most models were introduced in Miller's 2001 full-line catalog and in press releases under the "700 Series" name. All 700 Series names have been changed to 70 Series names to ensure product-line continuity. The 70 Series feeders provide superior arc control and reliability in heavy and high-volume manufacturing, metal fabrication and construction applications. They are compatible with any CV welding power source with a 14-pin receptacle and a 24 VAC supply, such as Miller's Deltaweld(R), Dimension(TM), XMT(R) and Invision(TM) Series. Why a New Series? In addition to design changes that enhance wire feed performance and simplify the operator interface, Miller introduced the 70 Series to meet customer needs previously fulfilled by upgrade kits for its 60 Series feeders. The most popular upgrades included automatic run-in and trigger hold. The 70 Series feeders - the 74S (standard), 74D (digital meters) and 74DX (deluxe, full-featured) - now offer these functions as standard features. Further enhancements were added to the 70 Series line, such as a tool-less rotatable drive assembly and independent drive roll tension control. In most cases, a 70 Series feeder costs less than the old 60 Series products with more standard features. The 70 Series offers affordability now and the flexibility to grow with an operation in the future. For example, the 74S costs about $800.00 less than the 74DX, yet it can be easily upgraded. For those who do not require a feeder with pulsing controls, the 74DX offers many of the same capabilities of the 64M feeder, at a lower cost and without complicated controls. In fact, operator friendliness and ease-of-use are hallmarks of the new 70 Series. The 70 Series wire feeders are covered by Miller's True Blue® three-year parts and labor factory warranty.
