Original Press Release:
New Agie Vertex 2F Wire EDM is Designed for High Precision Manufacturing Down to 0.05µm RA in Continuous Operation
Chicago, IL - Based on the proven performance of its Agiecut Vertex 1, Agie has now extended "V" technology to more of its wire-cut EDM line, including the Vertex 2, 2F, 3 and 3F models. The heart of the "V" series is the IPG-V generator with modern design and technology that delivers a finer spark gap for better part geometry and surface finishes down to 0.05µm Ra with no white layer in continuous operation. The IPG-V generator uses less power and takes up a minimum amount of space. In addition, The IPG-V's eCut technology makes it possible to get surface finishes as good as 0.8 µm Ra with one precision cut - a process that is completed in half the time required by technologies that incorporate a main cut and trim cut. Also, the faster precision cut requires 40% less filter and resin and results in 60% less wire consumption.
The Vertex 2F is equipped with the new Agievision 5 control based on the Windows XP platform and powered by dual Pentium M processors, 40 GB hard drive and 512 MB RAM. Processing speed, surface finish and accuracy are all improved, along with user-friendliness of the Agievision control, which provides enhanced 3D graphics, real time adjustments, and direct-select activity bars. A USB interface has been added for convenient data storage and a CD/DVD drive and 3-1/2" floppy are also included as standard.
Fully loaded, the Vertex 2/2F/3/3F, comes with many Agie exclusive control features including: Agieplanning, Contact Manager, Agiesetup 3D, Lotto and more. The on-board Agieplanning feature included on the Agievision 5 control makes quoting jobs easier; users can produce a time-study valuable for estimating by entering a few key job specs. A Contact Manager feature makes it possible to remotely monitor and control jobs in progress any time from office or home.
The Agiesetup 3D feature on the Vertex 2F makes it easy to know where workpieces are in 3D space. It uses a probing system that measures flatness and skew, eliminating laborious manual setup and improving accuracy and profitability. Agiesetup 3D is truly 100% automatic and can be programmed off-line and executed unattended, saving an average of 20 minutes per part with Agiesetup 3D as compared to traditional methods of workpiece setup.
Lotto(TM) makes it easy to set up and run up to 30 workpieces on the table together. Each job is set up and referenced as a separate file; then the files are highlighted to link them into a single job. No external CAM programming or time-consuming command file is necessary.
The Vertex 2F accepts wire diameters of 0.001 - 0.013 inches. Maximum workpiece dimensions are 29.5 x 21.6 x 9.8" (Vertex 2/2F) and 41.3 x 25.6 x 9.8" (Vertex 3/3F).
