Wilson-Hurd Recognized for Continuous Improvement as a Part of the Johnson & Johnson Supplier Enabled Innovation Program

West Chester, Pa. – Wilson-Hurd Manufacturing Company was recognized today as a TOP 5 Finalist in the 2012 Supplier Enabled Innovation Program (SEI) by Johnson Johnson. The Supplier Enabled Innovation Program was created in 2010 to allow Johnson & Johnson companies to leverage the knowledge and unique abilities of supplier partners to drive innovative solutions that will improve the lives of the patients they serve.

Animas Corporation, a division of Johnson and Johnson making subcutaneous insulin delivery systems, nominated the Keypad Redesign Project as one of about 800 projects from across Johnson & Johnson for consideration in the SEI Program.  Of these projects, five were selected as finalists and the Wilson-Hurd keypad continuous improvement project was one of the top five nominees bringing a vastly enhanced keypad design and robust manufacturing process.

In presenting the Supplier Enabled Innovation Certificate of Achievement to the Wilson-Hurd Team, Chris Curran, Strategic Sourcing Manager for Animas Corporation stated, "This certificate recognizes the innovation, partnership and dedication that Wilson-Hurd demonstrated in working with Animas to improve our Insulin Pump and impact in a truly positive way the lives of our patients who are living with diabetes."

In accepting the Certificate on behalf of the Wilson-Hurd Team,  Jim McIntyre, President of Wilson-Hurd said, "The significant Critical to Quality gains achieved by the collaborative effort of the Animas and Wilson-Hurd technical and manufacturing leaders placed this project in the forefront of the many worthy nominees for the 2012 SEI Award."

Greg Wasno, Animas Manager of Product Engineering, who led a cross-functional Animas team of engineering, quality, and sourcing, stated that, "Wilson-Hurd matched this (Animas) resource commitment with their senior engineering, quality, and manufacturing/process engineers.  Wilson-Hurd didn't just play a role in the process, they were the process.  From project inception to final testing and manufacturing ramp-up, Wilson-Hurd found ways to elevate the solution through continued experimentation and never settling for 'good', instead of 'great'."
