Wilson-Hurd Now Offers Capacitive Touch Switches

Wilson-Hurd is pleased to announce the addition of capacitive touch switches to its Electronic Control product line. This new switch offering operates by detecting the presence of a conductive object and measures any changes in capacitance. With no moving parts to wear down, capacitive touch switches offer extreme durability in even the toughest environments.

Wilson-Hurd's capacitive touch switch features a self-contained system that offers designers a wide degree of flexibility. A broad selection of input choices is available, including buttons, sliders, switches, touchpads, touchscreens, and proximity sensors. In addition, multiple functions can be easily integrated into the design, including LED drivers and backlighting. With reduced board space requirements, the capacitive touch switch has lower cost when compared to other touch technologies.

"In considering the addition of capacitive touch switches to our product offering, one of our goals was to find a technology that would be an excellent solution for hand-held system applications. We've found the answer with our capacitive touch switches," commented Steven Jome, Product Development Engineer at Wilson-Hurd. The company's capacitive touch switches can be used in a variety of market applications, including automotive, computer, consumer electronics, and industrial.

Wilson-Hurd's headquarters are in Wausau, Wisconsin with an additional manufacturing plant located in Berlin, Wisconsin. Besides capacitive touch switches, the company's Electronic Control product division also produces custom membrane switches; Piezo® switches; and Duraswitch® PushGate, thiNcoder, and MagnaMouse switches.
