New Portable Penetrator Keeps Corporate WiFi Networks Secure

A major update to the Portable Penetrator Wifi Audit device from leading IT network security company SecPoint can keep corporate networks absolutely secure from external attack. We continue to see, week-after-week, how corporate computers connected to external networks fall foul of various security breaches after their wifi keys are cracked.

Copenhagen, Denmark - SecPoint's new Portable Penetrator PP3000 with firmware V7.5 allows browser-based wireless vulnerability scanning of very large networks across hundreds of IP addresses simultaneously.

The ready-out-of-the-box unit is based on a Dell Latitude 2100 10.1" screen with six-hour battery life, powered by a 1.6 Ghz 2 gig ram Dual core Atom processor running Linux. Its USB wireless adapter's antenna has a strength of 8dBi and it can crack security keys encrypted with WEP, WPA or WPA2.

We continue to see, week-after-week, how corporate computers connected to external networks fall foul of various security breaches after their wifi keys are cracked, explains SecPoint CEO Victor Christiansenn.

"Our latest Portable Penetrator identifies all of these danger zones and provides essential advice how to fix the holes," he says.

"A wifi router should, at a bare minimum, be protected by WEP 2.0 with a 25-character password and internal passwords at least 10 characters long, with at least one special character, four numerals, and at least one capital letter; but we never cease to be amazed by the sort of sensitive documents and databases we can access once our Portable Penetrator gets to work on the corporate client networks we're testing," he adds.

On start-up, the Penetrator provides the names of all identified networks in range, their types of encryption, signal strengths and their number of connected users. Users can then launch any number of a wide variety of attacks, including denial of service, against any of these networks.

The Penetrator's attack dictionary now includes more than 50 languages making it truly global, running 250 keys per second across a WPA encrypted network until the network password is identified. Previously, a vulnerability scan of 250 IP addresses would return 250 PDF reports, but now users can collate all results into a single document, which presents results both in simple terms for less-technical users, as well as very detailed data for experts.

It identifies more than 42,000 remote unique security vulnerabilities and shows where the networks it is testing are located on Google Maps in real-time and updates its firmware and signature databases whenever it is online.

Whether you're a security professional or a novice, the Portable Penetrator PP3000 offers a complete solution for auditing and improving the level of security of any wireless network, and at 999, it represents unbeatable value for money.
