TU-3840 Tuner Designed for use in High-End Military RF Signal Processing Applications
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., October 20, 2005 - M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics and a leading provider of wireless radio frequency (RF), microwave and millimeter wave components, today at the AOC 2005 Exhibition & Conference announced a new TU-3840 Wideband ELINT Tuner. The TU-3840 is designed for use in high-end signal processing military applications and is based on M/A-COM's successful, SEI-certified, SMR-3822 RF Microwave Sweeping Receiver technology.
"The TU-3840 is a high-performance synthesized RF Microwave receiver without demodulation. It has been designed for customers who want to provide their own back-end signal processing," said Marty Cunningham, director of Sales & Marketing, M/A-COM, SIGINT Products. "With the TU-3840 Wideband ELINT Tuner, we can now provide our customers a tuner without demodulation capability at a lower price-point than our SMR-3822 receiver."
The TU-3840 design offers frequency coverage of 0.1 to 20 GHz, extendable up to 40 GHz with the FE-3820, and is controlled by a remote work station, i.e., desktop or laptop computer. To remove receiver front end gain variations, a gain-controlled RF component is set automatically by the microprocessor based on internal calibration tables which allows accurate signal amplitude data to be recorded.
