Fast, Affordable Solution Brings Wide Format Scanning into the Office

ALLEROED, Denmark, June 2/ -- Contex, the world-leading developer of wide format scanning and imaging solutions, and VIDAR, a Contex Group company, have announced the launch of the SD Series - a revolutionary, affordable range of user-friendly scanners with all-new enhanced CIS technology.

The SD Series is ideal for customers who primarily scan technical documents and maps. Combining powerful scanning technology and walk-up simplicity, the scanners increase productivity and simplify scan-to-file and scan-to-print tasks for in-house users, eliminating the need to send scanning jobs out of house. The SD Series also serves copy shops with high-volume technical document archiving projects.

The SD Series' ability to separate fine lines and details in technical documents delivers the sharpness that customers in architecture, engineering, construction (AEC), geographic information systems (GIS), and copy and reprographics shops require. "Our SD Series addresses this market segment's needs for high throughput, intelligent image cleanup, and sharpness," says Niels Appel, Executive VP, Sales and Marketing for Contex operations.

"Productivity and ease of use are paramount to delivering bottom line benefits in today's business world. The SD Series will help any company, large or small, to effectively improve their scanning work processes."

At 44 inches, the SD Series can handle wider documents than any other CIS scanner on the market. And with 1,200 dpi optical resolution and intelligent image cleanup, the scanners effectively capture all fine lines and details.
Their lightweight design of 30kg (66lbs.) also offers unprecedented mobility.

A perfect fit for the new trend in decentralized scanning environments, the SD Series allow companies to make scanners available in several departments, replacing the more traditional setup of one centralized wide format scanner location in-house.

Appel says, "Customers in the technical segments often have different priorities. By using the SD Series, different departments gain access to a fast, easy-to-use, affordable solution that delivers the right features for their jobs. With the HD and SD Series, Contex and VIDAR now offer a complete range of solutions to cover all scanning needs."

Customers will also enjoy the SD Series' low maintenance. Face-up scanning dramatically reduces wear and tear on the glass plates, and when the plates do need replacement, it's fast and inexpensive. Combined with Contex and VIDAR's user-friendly Nextimage software, the SD Series also makes image editing simple - even for new users.
