Commercial cutters need a mower that provides the ultimate power, maneuverability, traction and cut quality in any mowing condition. The John Deere 1600 Turbo Wide-Area Mower provides that and more. After examining customer feedback regarding John Deere wide-area mowers, the Company challenged its development team to build a mower that would offer commercial cutters an improved level of power and productivity. The result of that challenge is the John Deere 1600 Turbo Wide-Area Mower. The John Deere 1600 Turbo Wide-Area Mower is powered by a 64-horsepower, turbo-charged Yanmar diesel engine with high torque, providing plenty of power for tough mowing conditions. Equipped with a 22-gallon fuel tank, this mower can operate all day at a fierce clipping rate of 8.5 acres an hour at 6.5 mph, without refueling. To increase productivity on the job, the mower includes a hydrostatic, dual transaxle that achieves a mowing speed of up to 8.6 miles per hour. To get from job to job quickly, the mower can achieve a transport speed of up to 14.5 miles per hour. With a cutting width of almost 11 feet, the 1600 Turbo Wide-Area Mower accommodates three commercial 7-gauge (.177 in.) mower decks - one 62-inch center-mower deck and two 42-inch wing decks. The mower's anti-scalp rollers included on the center mower deck help to ensure a clean cut. For added durability, this mower is constructed with an 11-gauge, welded, tubular steel frame. This mower also includes a standard water temperature gauge as well as a hood and air intake system to reduce downtime in dry, dusty conditions. The radiator and oil cooler are housed in one integral component to improve performance and ease servicing procedures. An added foot platform provides better service access. Increasing operator comfort and safety, the 1600 Turbo Wide-Area Mower is equipped with a high-backed, deluxe seat that is adjustable for accommodating operators of different heights and weights. Operators can also adjust the lumbar support on the seat as needed. Armrests are standard. The mower features newly designed tilt steering, allowing the operator to adjust the wheel to a desired, comfortable position and providing additional clearance for mounting and dismounting the mower. The mower's separate forward and reverse pedals allow the operator to keep both hands on the steering wheel and both eyes on the job, reducing operator fatigue and increasing safety. Standard features for the mower include: turn brakes for additional traction on side hills and tight trimming areas, electronic cruise control to maintain desired speed in wide-open mowing areas, a cup holder; and toolbox. The John Deere 1600 Turbo Wide-Area Mower will be available in February 2002. All John Deere commercial mowing equipment includes an exclusive two-year, bumper-to-bumper warranty.
